Professional Experience
Mr. TerMaat is a seasoned litigator practicing in the areas of Commercial Litigation, general civil litigation, Transportation and Trucking Law and Premises Liability. He is also recognized as one of the leading experts in Michigan No-Fault Automobile Insurance Law. Mr. TerMaat regularly presents seminars to clients on No-Fault issues and is the author of the annually-updated Michigan No-Fault Insurance Outline, First-Party Claims. In 1999, Michigan Lawyers Weekly named one of Mr. TerMaat’s cases as one of the most important decisions of the year.
Pro Bono/Professional/Community Activities
Mr. TerMaat has been an active member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association for over a decade, serving on several committees. He has also been involved with, or provided pro bono legal services for: Grace Episcopal Church, "GAP PAC," John Ball Zoo Advisory Board, "Friends of West Michigan Business," The Other Way Ministries, Westown Jubilee Housing, Greater Grand Rapids Interfaith Hospitality Network, Kent County Republican Executive Committee, Third Congressional District Executive Committee, Grand Rapids Area Center for Ecumenism Summit on Racism, G.R.A.C.E. Institute for Healing Racism.
